Koraput, 24 March 2023 (UTN). Gumiguda Anganwadi Center of Padua Panchayat, a remote area of Nandpur Block of Koraput District, does not have its own house. As a result, this center is now running in the verandah of the forest protection society house in the village. Here, more than 30 children from Gumiguda and Ghatarakanda villages are sitting and studying. It pointed the finger at the functioning of Social Welfare Department, District Administration and Women and Child Development Department. No action has been taken so far even though two villagers have complained to the administration about the lack of anganwadi houses.
According to the information received from the office of Nandpur CDPO, the two villages Gumiguda and Ghatarkanda under Galganda Anganwadi Center have been created in view of the distance and the number of children. This center is going on in the forest protection society house. The office has proposed to the District Welfare Department to build their own houses. It has been informed that the construction will be done after getting the approval. On the other hand, out of 240 Anganwadi centers in the block, more than 20 centers have been under construction for a long time by the block administration and DPEP. Pre-school education is hampered in half-way centers. All the communities working in Nandpur Child Development Project are requested to look into this.
