Koraput, 06 June 2023 (UTN). Koraput District Kundura Block 1 km from Block Subdivision Balaram Pentia, his wife Lakshmi, three sons and one daughter live in a remote Kaudiaguda village. After the death of Balaram, the responsibility of the family fell on Lakshmi. Among his sons, Gokul (10) was mentally disabled from birth. Because of this, Gokul has been tied up in the house by the family for 7 years. His body is tied with a rope.
After Balaram’s death, Lakshmi’s family is struggling. The family survives on what the 14-year-old girl earns as a wage. As government assistance, her family is getting 35 kg of rice under Antyodaya Yojana. Lakshmi has not got a widow’s allowance since she does not have a good house to settle down. Despite having 80 percent certificate, Gokul did not get disability allowance. Lakshmi is disappointed after applying for allowance many times. A volunteer organization has come forward to help Lakshmi.
