Somy Ali misses her Prem ‘uncle’, shares a clip from Aao Pyaar Karen

In a recent post on her Instagram handle, she shared a clip from her 1994 movie Aao Pyaar Karen, where she starred opposite Saif Ali Khan.

Mumbai, 03 January 2026 (UTN). Somy Ali ruled the Bollywood industry between 1991 and 1998. Though it was for a short time, her performances are still remembered by the fans. She is currently based in Miami, where she is running her NGO No More Tears, which rescues and assists victims of abuse and trafficking. And the distance cannot stop her from showing her love for the movies and Bollywood.

In a recent post on her Instagram handle, she shared a clip from her 1994 movie Aao Pyaar Karen, where she starred opposite Saif Ali Khan. The movie also featured veteran actor Prem Chopra, who played her father. With the video, she wrote, “For this tbt, we go back to 1993, where Prem uncle plays my father’s character in APK. As a child watching Souten and tons of his movies, I used to be terrified of him. Not much changed when I first did a scene with him at 18. I was so excited and very nervous till I learned that he is literally one of the nicest people in the Hindi film industry. He was so loving and so kind and immediately called me his ‘Beti’ (daughter).”

The clip also featured the popular track Oui Maa Yeh Kya Ho Gaya; Somy shared that it was choreographed by the late Saroj Khan, but the burden of being sexy fell on her shoulders. She added, “Trust me, I had a difficult time containing myself. And we literally had to cut so many times because Saif and I would burst out into laughter till our stomachs hurt. But somehow we pulled through.”

She continued that she has been missing Prem Uncle a great deal of late and called it an honor to get the opportunity to work with him. She wrote, “Even more fortunate to have worked with him in three other movies where he does play a villain. But he was nothing short of a delight and a father figure throughout. Always wishing him the best and a happy new year.”

She further mentioned her concern that she had as a child that actors who played negative characters were not nice in real life. “It’s baffling at times how as children we develop fears of characters on the silver screen because we are incapable of comprehending it’s all make-believe. What’s furthermore baffling is when I learned that the villains tended to be extraordinarily nicer than some heroes,” she wrote. She had signed Buland at 16 opposite Salman Khan which was shelved. She lives in Miami with plethora of bollywood memories.
