Mumbai, 03 January 2026 (UTN). Healer Pooja Seth sheds light on the spiritual and emotional importance of January’s Poornima, popularly known as the Wolf Moon. Sharing the origins of its name, she explains that in earlier times, harsh winter nights were often filled with the howling of wolves, which led to the full moon of January being called the Wolf Moon. The moon plays a very important role in our emotional state and overall success in life,” Pooja says. “Our relationship with the moon directly influences our emotions, mental state, and inner balance.”
According to her, the effects of Poornima are not limited to just one day. “You can feel the impact of Poornima for at least seven days before and seven days after the full moon. During this phase, it strongly affects our mental and emotional balance,” she explains.
Highlighting the significance of this particular Poornima, Pooja adds, “This is the first Poornima of the year, which makes it a powerful time for self-work and inner cleansing. It is ideal for letting go of anger, fear, and phobias that no longer serve you.”
She suggests a simple ritual to release negative emotions. “Write down whatever fear, anger, or emotional baggage you want to remove on a piece of paper, and then tear it or burn it with the intention of letting it go,” she says.
Pooja also emphasizes connecting directly with moon energy. “Sit under the full moon and absorb its rays. This helps align your emotions and brings a sense of calm and clarity,” she shares.
Advising caution during this period, she notes, “One should avoid arguments and refrain from making hasty decisions around Poornima, as emotions tend to be heightened.”
For those who are unable to fast, Pooja suggests an alternative ritual. “You can mix raw milk, rice, and mishri in water, offer it to the moon, and clearly say out loud what you wish to release and what happiness and prosperity you want to invite into your life,” she explains. Concluding her guidance, Pooja adds, “Meditation during this time is extremely beneficial. It helps ground your energy and allows the moon’s influence to work positively on your mind and soul.
